Fun Sense of Touch Activities!
I can't believe we are already half way through the week of our 5 senses unit! Our Kindergarten homeschool schedule is working out great! I'm finding so far that we have plenty of time to stay on track and have had extra time for lots of free play! Today we explored our sense of touch. We had so much fun doing some super easy hands-on sense of touch activities to enhance our learning. Be sure to visit our sense of sight and sense of hearing activities from earlier this week as well. Here's what we did today.
- We started off by listening to Mr. R's Touch song on YouTube. We are loving these 5 senses songs!
- We read Touch that! by Sally Hewitt. We learned lots of descriptive words throughout the book. These came in handy for our touch board activity.
- We demonstrated how our sense of touch comes from our skin (not just our hands). We touched items with gloves on and off to show how important it is to have sensors in our skin to be able to feel things!
- We used a feather to lightly touch our skin and noticed how some places are more sensitive than others.
- My favorite activity was going outside to practice earth grounding. All you have to do is walk outside barefoot!
- My daughter played with a bin of sensory toys.
- We played Hand Me a Candy by eeboo. This is a really fun game that relies solely on your sense of touch!
Tomorrow I'll have another freebie for our sense of smell! Be sure to check it out.
Happy Homeschooling! :)
