Half Day or Full Day Kindergarten Schedule?
I kept going around in circles trying to find a schedule that made sense to me and that would work for our family. I ultimately came up with something that gives us structure and consistency, but allows for us to break up our day into manageable chunks.
The schedule is broken up throughout the day like a more of a full day schedule BUT we are really only doing schooling for the duration of a half day schedule! This allows for LOTS of breaks and play!
*Update! This schedule has been working out great for us! I'm finding that we really only need about half an hour for both Language Arts and Math. We spend the rest of the time playing games, exploring learning materials and moving around!

*A couple notes...
- If you are not familiar with morning baskets, this is a time for us to connect and ease into our day. It typically includes a book or something that matches the theme we are studying. I'll cover morning baskets in a separate post soon.
- Specials refers to things such as art, dance, dramatic play, cooking... similar to electives. This will constantly change.
This schedule has enough structure for us to have a solid routine, but also allows for enough flexibility in our day to make changes as needed. On most days, our subject areas like Language Arts won't take up the entire hour. We will make adjusts as we go. Some days we'll add in extra reading or more outside play. It will really depend on how we feel, but that time is set aside in case we do need to use the entire time block!
Feel free to make adjustments based on your child's wake and sleep times and...
Happy Homeschooling! :)
