We just wrapped up week 2 of homeschooling and our super fun All About Me theme that built off of last's weeks 5 Senses theme! We learned about the human body and other important things pertaining to E's life like her family, phone number and address! Here's how we filled our week...
As a side note, since it is a daily activity... We are filling out a few pages each day in My Book about Me by Dr. Seuss! I HIGHLY recommend this book for the beginning of a school year. It is a perfect interactive book for Kindergarten. Best of all, it becomes such a precious keepsake!
Monday
We read about our muscles in Look inside Your Body by Usborne. This is my favorite book to teach kids about the human body. It is super engaging with tons of flaps to lift and the information is organized in a very easy way for kids to comprehend.
To incorporate math, we used this cute
all about me math activity from Classroom Freebies Too to count and draw things that pertain to my daughter.
Tuesday
Today we learned about the skeleton system and watched
Your Super Skeleton on YouTube (SciShow Kids).
We read about our skeletal system in our Usborne Look inside Your Body book.
One of our favorite activities from the week was making an adorable colorful art project inspired by an Instagram post from
Be Kind and Make Art.
My daughter LOVED pretending to be a detective as she learned about fingerprints! Be sure to grab my free printable for this activity at the end of the post! We captured the fingerprints of all of our family members in two ways. First we used an ink pad. That didn't work super great so I recommend the second way, which was pressing our finger in pencil rubbing and then sticking it onto a piece of tape!
Fingerprint Instructions
1. Rub a pencil really hard on a piece of paper so there is a nice blob of rubbing
2. Stick a piece of tape sticky side up on a flat surface
3. Rub pointer finger on forehead to get it nice and greasy
4. Carefully stick finger into rubbing
5. Pull tape off and put the tape sticky side down onto paper.
You should be able to see your fingerprints really well!

Wednesday
The day started off super fun by making a playdough family portrait
We read about our respiratory system
For a fun hands-on activity, we made a model of our lungs! Activity from
Hello, Wonderful
Thursday
Today we read about our organs and how the digestive system works in our Look inside your Body book and also watched a great video from
Ryan's World.
E loved learning her address by singing it to the tune of Frerer Jacques! She learned it super fast by teaching it this way. She wanted to sing it over and over. (
from Lasting Thumbprints)
Our hands-on activity for the day was making a model of how our digestive system works. This was a GREAT visual and super easy to do! It worked out nicely because, E had some prior knowledge to draw upon from watching the Ryan's World earlier in the morning. We used the instructions from
Gift of Curiosity!
Friday
I like to include a food activity each week. This week we made face pancakes! I have a free printable to go along with this activity. Grab it at the bottom of the post! All you have to do is make pancakes and give your child whatever toppings you would like to use as parts of the face! We used blueberries, strawberries, bananas and chocolate chips. The free printable is a checklist helps teach facial feature words. It also provides easy steps to follow while allowing for lots of creativity!
Our last activity in our All About Me theme was making a phone number bracelet! Activity from
Rock it Momma
I hope you enjoy this theme as much as we did! Be sure to grab your free printables below!
Happy Homeschooling! :)
